This is redbud burl bowl courtesy of David Keller. David and I did some exchange of wood around the Christmas holidays, and this was one of pieces I got. I've added some malachite for fun. Finish is antique oil, hand rubbed only. About 6" diameter and 3" tall.
I'll have to get some better pics...I must have had my fstop too low on this. (I just learned what that means during a class recently!!:p)
I like this piece alot, it has alot of warmth. Took more time just to figure out good orientation, and at first I was going to do a hollow form, but decided it would not show off the grain as well. Same thoughts on a covered bowl, best to leave this one open.

I like this piece a lot too! Very pretty piece of wood, the natural edge looks very gnarly.

Nice work. I like the wood and the shape. Do you use a vacuum chuck?

That's one twisted bowl. I like it! That sap wood is crazy looking.
