I am looking for a belt sander that comes to a fairly sharp edge or corner. I can find hand held ones and at once time I saw a bench top model and thats whay I am after. I have a customer that has parts to sand I cut that have a .125 radius in the corner of a 90.

Can you provide a picture and detailed information on the project such as grain orientation, etc. I have used and made such tool. We had one we called a waterfall sander that instead of a drum at the other end it a steel corner with graphite to sand a tight corner. We did a lot of form and profile sanding.

I can a pic for you the material is pretty much Russian ply or apple ply. they do rings and other things. they sand them to a polish for the most part.

maybe a scroll saw with a shaped platen and sticky sandpaper, it would be an up and down motion but it would get in the corners

What about a 1"x42" belt sander? HF, Grizzly, etc all offer one. You could track the belt to one side of the platten.

that's an idea. I have to keep it simple they are not really woodworkers. They need a oscillating sander but bench mounted. the scroll-saw is the best bit. they could use the saw too when then need to cut things themselves.

The scroll saw will be much easier to control vs. the belt sander. I would not want to hold those tiny parts against a large belt!

Google scroll saw sanding belt. Several people make/sell them. No need to use sticky paper and make something work. You can probably get it from Amazon.

You can also use a sanding block with a finer grit
