Currently, I have three of them. An H1203, an H1204, and just refurbished aN H1205 Jack. I was wondering IF Stanley made any sizes larger than the #5 jack for the Handyman series?

As for getting a Handyman Jack plane to work....239199239200Spent maybe an hour and a half this morning, getting a Handyman refurbed back to life. Clear-coat on the iron??? Chipbeaker on the bevel side of the iron??? Sole rusty, insides full of dust...239201239202239203 got it cleaned and sharp..239204239205counting S&H, about just under #11.00.:D

So, did Stanley make anything larger than a #5 jack for the handyman series?

As to the Question in this post: There is/was a Handyman 20" long plane on the bay, for sale. Which # would a 20" plane be? A #6 is 18", a #7 is 22", but a 20" long plane????

Why, a #6 1/2 of course.

Or a 7-1/4.

True Handyman bench plane sizes (with the 120X number) were 3 4 and 5 - thats all. They had a block plane or two, chisels, etc. Mostly homeowner grade, for trimming storm windows and such, probably not used for a lot of fine work. It would take some real talent to tune them to take a nice cut ;)

Stanley painted all their planes blue at the end.

I got a hand-me-down handyman as my first plane. I still use it for cleaning up reclaimed wood.

How are the frogs cleaning up?

A few looks at my three H planes...239372239373239374and yes, that h1205 will shave some wood...239375 I still have some work to do on the H1204, mainly polish the back....

Worked on the H1204 this afternoon. Needed a little more than just a polished back. Chipbreaker needed a fitting as well. Sandpapered the edge to 25 degrees, polished that on my oil stones. Polished the back to almost a mirror like shine, and even cleaned up the rest of the Stanley logo at the top. Took the finish H1204 out to a test track of 1x1 Beech...239400 adjusted the lateral a bit...239401 starting to act like it's smaller relative, the H1203..239402 now, all three are ready to go to work....

I must be getting lucky with these handyman Planes. Seems that, to me, they are just Stanley planes. Came down the same assembly line. The handyman planes are just missing a frog adjustment screw, not a big deal. The irons I've worked on, seem to be the same as any other Stanley iron from the same era. Yep, I have worked on pre"Sweetheart irons, a SW iron, and a few newer irons, including a Bedrock or two. Even have a Berg in house. And three H120*s that sharpen up very nicely. Do I need a Hock blade? Ah, NOPE, not in my shop, thank you. I am getting by very nicely with those old irons.239501 Works for me...
