Mid-project I decided to make a change.

The attached pic shows a stile and the top of the case.

How could I attach a rail, about 3 inches wide, to the existing 3/4 MDF and stile?

Mike, why not install a cleat on the back of the stile and rail? Use a piece to match the stile thats narrower than the rail so its not easily seen. Glue it and screw it. Brad nail the top to the MDF. Add a crown molding as well, perhaps? Greg

Pocket holes. Put them in the rail. Run a bead of glue on the MDF and screw it into the stile. Clamp it up before you screw it in to hopefully minimize sanding.

Looks like you've already got one pocket hole that I can see. If you're painting it, just get some pocket hole plugs in pine if you want to conceal them.

Are we missing something? I see you already are using pocket holes so, why not do that?
