I had to have a big rock maple taken down in front of the farm house!
mearured 11 feet around and almost 4 feet across
first picture chain saw with 16" bar on stump
second is saw in front of the section that is 8 feet up from stump!!!

Looks Like fun, hope your Lathe can "Swing" some of those larger pieces.

Maybe you need to treat yourself to a retirement present...

Looking for 14x14x3 blanks and happy see what we can swap...in other words to keep it out of the buy/sell catagory (wink wink) That is one monster of a tree!!

Learn how to spalt them. The plain hard maple is nice,but much easier to sell or give if they have black streaks running through them.

After working on the tree I decided that my almost 30 year old sthil 031 needs to be replaced:eek:!!! I am going to check out new one this morning.:)
