Is there a knock off or one very similar like Alan Lacer's? At $95, i'll keep using my diamond strop stick, but it sure would be nice to find one that has similar profiles for sharpening[honing] bowl gouges but also flat shapes like skew scrapers..any ideas? thanks Rob

I use this (http://www.d-waytools.com/tools-diamond-grinding-wheels.html). It's been great.

there is one on amazon (about $10) but does not have diamonds on the curved edge like Alan's, which is very nice to have......John Jordan has a stone that is curved and about inch wide that you can hone with but it is not daimonds, i think it was about $20 to $25

I have the Lacer hone and use it all the time. I bought it from him during a class and I believe he gives a discount.

It is pricey, but really does a good job. I passed on it at a demo, and then ordered it direct a couple of months later losing opportunity for the demo discount. I have not been sorry that I spent the money, and consider it worth the money.

I use the CBN hone and it is top notch.

Bump

Anyone know when the hones will be in stock again? He's been out for quite a long time.
Or does someone else have a hone that has radius edges?

Maybe we have to talk Dave into making a round edge CBN hone. I would like a 220 grit one as well as the coarser one seems to raise a better burr.

+1 on the DMT Double sided! That is the hone I use and I think it is the best!

This is Alan Lacer's hone. The thing I like about it is that it is tapered and rounded on the edges. This allow you to hone the inside of a gouge. I think I paid $65 for mine.
