Well have been doing some bowl coring lately. I have about 5 sets cored out of maple so thought I would do a change of pace. I needed to get started on my Christmas orders. What is nice is all but one said when I asked what style do you want and they said surprise me. Well when coring and driving back from visiting grandkids gave me some time to think. Anyway here are a few of the 38 I have made so far. The wife really likes the barn style that look like they were made from old barn wood and she really likes the brick one. They are burned and dyed with copic pens. These have been going like hotcakes. Also she picked up some acorns at her brothers house so tried to emulate one. Didn't turn out to bad. Thanks for looking.

Thanks all. These are turnings I just never get tired of doing. Steve if nothing else sells these do. I have several ladies that have standing orders because they wanted to start a tradition with their grandkids. So out of the 38 there are 27 spoken for. So I need about 100 more by November 1st for the art gallery and for the floral/craft store. If I don't start now I won't be done and I had that happen one Christmas. It is no fun working 18 hrs a day to get done.

I'd make that acorn cap a lot smaller Bernie. It's almost as big as the acorn. I use the knurling tool that Craft Supplies sells to texture the cap. I also use walnut for the cap so it will contrast more to the body. I agree, these sell quite well. My best sales are at our nature center. If you can't sell a bird house ornament at a nature center, you are doing something seriously wrong! The barn siding ones are my favorites.

Great job Bernie. I really like those. Can't imagine having to turn 100 of them but you obviously enjoy it.

Thanks again to everyone.

Richard this is my first acorn type and had hollowed it just a touch to deep so it just had to be that big. I am going to do another tomorrow so will post it when done. Learned a lot on the cap.

Michael I do enjoy making them. Nice change of pace.

Fine job on the bird houses, the coloring on the barn ones is a nice contrast to the top. Doug

Thanks everyone. Michelle I know. If I didn't start now it would be Christmas and I would be in trouble.

Those are really nice. I especially like the barnwood style. It's easy to see why these sell so quick.
