Hi All

I've seen lists of Craftsman OEM manufacturers listed by model prefix. Except for OWWM, I can't lay my cyber hands on one. I'm looking for prefix 921.xxxxxx. It's an air compressor and I'm wondering who made it. Thanks for any help.

As many of you know Craftsman doesn't make any of their own power tools. The first three digits of the tool's model number denotes who the original manufacturer was. Usually it's three numbers followed by a "." then five or six other numbers (eg: 113.27610 - the 113 denotes the manufacturer [in this case Emerson]). The "owwm" web page ( www.owwm.com/craftsman/manufacturers-prefix.asp (http://www.owwm.com/craftsman/manufacturers-prefix.asp)) is a good partial list of manufacturer prefixes. The easiest way I've found to find out who a manufacturer is if I don't recognize the first three digits is to call Sears customer service @ 1-800-469-4663 and ask. Although most of Craftsman's handheld power and cordless tools are made by Ryobi, Craftsman has contracted a few professional manufacturers for the Craftsman "professional" line of tools. For example Dewalt makes their biscuit joiner, Bosch makes their 5 1/2" circular saw (an excellent, light weight, blade left saw that excells at ripping sheet goods to a more managable size in my shop) and their new 2.5hp router combo.
