universal alignment double image

I have a VLS4.60 running driver 5.34.54.31 and when I turned the machine on today to run a simple job it is engraving a "double image". It is engraving a second copy of the text a 1/8 of an inch to the the right. I am just wondering what would cause it to happen and how I can fix it. Thanks

If you look close you'll probably find that the two images are composed of alternate scan lines: one of the is all of the left-to-right sweeps and the other is the right-to-left sweeps. It's usually caused by backlash in a drive sprocket on the Y carriage: excessive play when it changes direction.

Or it could be you're trying to engrave too close to the left or right edge, which I've seen cause similar symptoms.

Well after I got off the phone with Universal, all I had to do was unplug the usb, restart the machine and plug the usb back in. fired right up and is working again..
who knows... thanks for the response I will keep that in mind in case something similar happens
