I know a lot of people have dehumidifiers in their shops. Fortunately this one is for ones made between 2003 and 2005 (but sold as late as 2009) and based on a recent discussion, its not very likely that they are still working in 2012.

I have an LG manufactured dehumidifier from that timeframe, but not a Kenmore. Might have to see if others that they made have similar recalls. For mine, just out of warranty the printed circuit board went bad. What is the one part you cannot get a replacement for?

I had an old dehumidifier which lasted me nearly twenty years. I've now had two replacements in less than six years...

Interestingly enough, all the recall notice they post says to stop using the dehumidifier immediately, they mention nothing whatsoever about a remedy such as repair or replacement of the defective units...

My Kenmore from 2005 is still running fine. I checked the model number this morning, but failed to win the "Sears Lotto."
