Surely, someone here knows what I'm talking about. I'd like to have some modeling clay to try out some ideas before committing them to wood. I'm looking for Staedtler Marsclay, but I can't seem to find a source for purchasing this stuff in anywhere. I'm hoping someone here knows how to buy it.

Thanks much.

John, while it isn't Marsclay I was able to buy some oil-based clay from the local fabric store (~ a 4x4x8" block). It worked well (held fine detail) and did not dry out. It looks like Dick Blick (art supply) carries a wide assortment of oil based clay: http://www.dickblick.com/categories/modelingclays/

Maybe I'll try Dick Blick. I have one not too far from me, but the people that work there are...well, just not very knowledgable if I'm to be kind. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? I don't know. I really don't know anything about this kind of modeling clay and I'm concerned that if I listen to their advice I'm going to end up with pottery instead of a model.

I believe you can mix your own, just add cornstarch to vaseline until you reach the desired consistency.
