Really nice job so far. That is a nice piece of wood with a lot of contrast. I am guessing that it is pretty wet and will be warping a fair amount. The tool marks in the upper region look like your turning the open air went pretty well and good edge, a lot better than some of my work on the softer sap wood. Let us see the finished piece.

That's about as good as they get. Picture 1 really captures all the excellent qualities of this piece. I feel like anything more than a satin finish would take away from this artful piece. Just saying...

Well
Today when I looked at this bowl it has moved quite a bit and no longer sits level on it base or has that nice sweet outer curve, it's now got a bit of and ogee shape when viewed with the lower part of the rim facing you. But so far no cracking ... just lots of movement and about half the weight from when I took it off the lathe.
