Hi,

I have this saw I am trying to sell, and the buyer asked if it can take a dado blade. When I looked at the arbor with a regular rip blade mounted and the large washer and nut on there, there is 5/8" of threaded arbor still sticking out. Does anyone know if this can take a dado blade? The owners manual says nothing, I can't believe it!
Thanks!

Pete

When I run my wobble type dado blade, I don't use the washer. If your rip blade is 1/8" and you have 5/8" exposed threads, you should be able to run a dado and cut up to about 3/4" with your saw using the washer. More than 3/4" may be more cut than the motor will handle and still maintain speed.

AFAIK, your saw was made by Mao Shan, and is very similar to some of the former Griz, Jet, and GI contractor saws, which would all accept a dado blade. How thick of a stack is the unanswered question. IIRC, I could put a full stack on my GI contractor saw if left off the arbor washer, which is a common and recommended practice if as long as the arbor nut is fully seated with threads coming through the nut.
