Some more self spalted maple bowls done in a plastic tub. I got some spalt to occur, but I don't think putting them in the tub vertically helped. The big one is 13" wide and about 3 1/2" deep. The smaller is about 8 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" deep. Both have beads applied with a 3/8" gouge. I don't care for the rim on the larger one. It drops down to much and doesn't feel good in the hands. My fingers catch on the edge without touching the rim. Finished with Forby's Tung Oil and some coats of cat lacquer. Comments always welcome.

Bob,
This is some pretty wood and prettier turnings. I really like the detail on the foot. Beads are real nice.

Those bottoms have more detail than most pay to the tops! Depth perception question Bob, small laptop screen you see...is the first one thicker through the bottom than the second? As always...you did well!

Both are under cut under the rim. The first one is probably a heavy 3/8" and the second is about 1/4" thick. Thanks for the comment

Bob love the bowls. Love the detail on the bottom.
