I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a company, accessible on the web, that sells a wide variety of high quality wooden drawer knobs? The quantity I require is laughably small so I can't go to a wholesaler ( even if I knew of one).

I cannot comment on the quality, and certain the selection is small, but Lee Valley has some. I think that in their latest catelog I noticed more than just those at the link (wood knobs), but this is a start anyway.

Have you considered making some yourself? I have seen a few articles on making them, and for many pulls, it is only a question of what profile do you desire and then how to make it. Most of the "how to" things that I have seen used a router table and a series of cuts to obtain the desired profile. If you desire a knob, you probably need to turn them (seems like a more difficult task if you know as little as I about turning).

As an example I followed a link from http://www.dlawlesshardware.com/pulinwoodand.html and found this drawer pull that should be possible to make

Nice blog entry on Lumberjocks on making wooden drawer pulls. eHow even has an article on making a knob pull without turning.

On the New Yankee Workshop #812 Nest Of Drawers, a recessed drawer pull is made...
