I started to burn a new bowl today. I really like how this one is coming out. I still have one more shadow to add and a bunch more detail in the leaf itself. This one will be colored in autumn colors.

I don't know. It is hard to go back to nature when you've been to the world of the scary spider. I know it will look good and looking forward to seeing the autumn leaf. If we don't get more rain we may not have any autumn leaves.

Another eye tricker! The leaf looks like it's floating.

The center part of the leaf actually bends into the center bowl

That's an amazing bit of burning, the leaf looks so real that a person would be tempted to remove it.

Thanks everyone.
Curtis, if you burn light enough the figure will show through and will add to the dimension of the burn. In this case I don't want much of the figure to show through the leaf so I have to work very slowly to get an even burn. Because of the different densities in the figure it can be a real PITA to do evenly. Fiddle seams to be the worst offender

Be careful not to lift the leaf, there's probably a spider under it:D! This promises to be another eye catcher, can't wait to see the finished piece.

Thanks Steve,
Great stuff! You must have very steady hands.
Thanks Marc. They are pretty steady, but on the days that I burn, I make sure to only have one cup of coffee.
