.. As usual I am found to "fight" with a piece of wood that is heavily scarred by time and the whims of nature ... various cracks and wood rot to try to exploit, to come up with something pleasing to the eye ... crepava almost cool enough "visibly" .. overnight .. plus I took the liberty to "play" a bit with the fire and this is the result .. the effect sought is that "the fire came from" ... I then "further collided" with the exponential growth of cracks during construction .. "and I would like to see" you say .. ! ... wood is apricot ...

inside where you could not continue to make the flame because the wood was actually enough "proven" .. I completed the work of blackening with two coats of acrylic matte ...

a great experience , and I learned that "if when you sand the wood, it begins to" eat "the soft parts .. with fire is the exact opposite ... as soon as you draw near the torch shows the design of the vein .. so not to overdo it ... wet rag in hand, ready to stop the excesses, and so on ..

What do you think ... ?

Francesco...that just rocks! You are playing with fire in more ways than one, all those cracks...yikes. Beginners beware...don't try this early on.

All that being said, safety wise, this is exquisite work and love the final results. My only nit...pretty small, is that the base didn't get a similar, if not lighter, treatment of flame.

Francesco,
This one looks like it was spit out of a volcano. You've created a really interesting effect with the voids and torch. I'm not sure I would have had the foresight to envision something inside that rough ball you started with. I'm happy it remained in one piece. Nice work.

Hello Tim, thanks for your intervention, the base I used a little fire, they did not want to exaggerate the power chuck .. you're right when you say that beginners should be careful :)

That is really cool! I love the dark inside because it really makes the colors on the outside stand out. Certainly not for the faint of heart with all the voids but I love it!

It's a beautiful little piece of wood, your talent certainly has brought out all of the charm that was in it.

Having the blackened area on the inside and the finished wood on the outside was insightful (and challenging). The result is certainly worth the trouble.

Francesco, a stunning piece. I too would have liked to see the base darkened a bit, perhaps a coat of the black acrylic matte you used on the inside. If I may I would suggest a name for this: "Born of Fire". Again, beautiful work.
