For the WTA swap, I turned Kathy a beaded cherry HF. I was waiting for her to receive it before posting pics of it. I think the dimensions are somewhere around 4.5" x 4.5", and the hole is 7/8", with 1/4" hand turned (no beading tools...yet) beads. C&C welcome!

Wonderful work Mike, I'm sure Kathy will be very pleased. It's a good think DavidD isn't your swap partner...he would have nightmares that hornets would fly out of it!

Mike hand cutting those beads really makes it special. Kathy will really like this one for her collection.

Tim, that's hysterical! I didn't think about that... I mean, yeah, I thought of the bee hive thing, but I should have given Kathy something else, and just sent this to DD...he would have RUN from the package!!!! Hehehehe...

And thanks, Tim and Josh for the kind words.

Beautiful work on the beads Mike. Don't you just love the sanding time on those beads. I was at a critique talk by Allan Lacer and he said when he beaded the entire bowl he increased the width of the bead slightly as they transcended up the side. Gives another dimension to the piece. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, Mike. If we could get someone to Photoshop a hornet near the opening we could call it a "beeded" hollow form.

Mike i think you ought to do one more. Send it to Jeff Myroup and let him do his magic with his burners. like he did on that black widow, but with a bee.:)

Thanks, Michelle. It is great to share. Great feeling of giving, and great to add to my "turners" collection.

Steve, that'd be a cool accent!

It really is a beautiful piece! Mike did an excellent job turning the beads, they are Very uniform and if I didn't know better I'd swear he used a beading tool. The finish is silky smooth and it just feels as good as it looks!
Thanks Mike!
