My son and I manhandled the pieces out of the back of my truck this morning. It was 'easier" than I though it would be. Once we had the end hanging over the tailgate, we removed the shaft, spun it around and... well... I'll leave it to your imagination from there... Now sitting in my back yard. Next thing is to rearrange my tent to make room for it. Also, before it gets put back together, there is some cosmetic work to be done.

DD, thanks for the pics. Thanks for the updates. Keep 'em coming! Still having some issues "seeing" this all together.

That looks like a lathe that someone built and documented on this forum a while back. I think his name was Mark Norman-maybe. And he was in California-maybe. Could I be remembering this correctly?

Now David needs a make shift tool rest made out of some small scaffoldling (just like Mark was using!). :)

No proof yet:):) Looks like some concrete to me. Proof will be seeing it run and something turned from it. Until then it's yard art!!!:):):)

"...David needs a make shift tool rest..."

No "makeshift" tool rest. Working on something for that and it will not be "makeshift"!

"Proof will be seeing it run and something turned from it."

Patience, Grasshopper... Soon enough....
