Hearing protectors - the lightweight kind

Im hot weather I like to wear the kind of hearing protector that consists of two yellow soft cone shaped plastic plugs on a U-shaped plastic rod. I need a new pair of these. My old pair had a blue plastic rod. The protectors I find for sale now are too small. They have an orange plastic rod and you can't wear them looped over the top of your head. You have to wear them so they are riding on the back of your neck. Where can I find a pair of the big ones?

(Reminds me of my thread on saucers - you go shopping expecting buy a common item and nobody has it. I find this type of hearing protector for sale online, but the pictures show an orange plastic pair, so I fear that these are the same too-small model sold in local stores. )

Fastenal almost certainly carries what you want. Personally, I use ear plugs with a little cord that attaches them to each other, and I just buy bulk backs for the shop.

Mcmaster Carr lists such protectors and the positions for wearing them are "under chin" and "behind head". I don't know if I could wear them looped over the top of my head even when I'm wearing a cap, like I could my old pair.

Their web page shows a pair made of blue plastic, so there's hope. They have a local store so perhaps I can examine the protectors there. The price is 10 for $106.90. (!)

I prefer the type with the plastic band since it's the pressure of the band that holds the plugs in place. They don't go very far into your ears. If you take the plugs off the plastic band and use them, they don't block noise.

In what way am I contradicting myself? There are models of this type of protector that one can wear looped over one's head. The one's sold by McMaster-Carr might not be not such a model - blame McMaster-Carr, not me.
