We installed a new hardwood floor using santos mahogany. Now, santos mahogany seems like a common species in the wood flooring industry, but I haven't seen it in lumber form. Does anyone know if there is something special about santos mahogany, or is it just a name the flooring industry has come up with? (would like to have a few items in the house made of the same stuff.)

Thanks,

There are a couple of sellers on Ebay that often put up Santos Rosewood Veneer for sale. Some that I have seen resembles the discriptions given.

Try doing a search on the 'bay for 'santos' and see if any of it looks like what you've got.
