Hello,

my name is Alex, I am 34 and I am living in Bavaria, Germany. I am a luthier, have studied applied arts for musical instrument making, specialized into plucked instrument making. Furthermore I have a master-degree in guitar-making. I am running my own shop, but also have a daily money earning job as a veneer-salesman in a veneermill / sawmill.
I am reading here already for about a year, also signed in already a while ago. I found this forum when I was searching for some information about the Meber SR600 which I had just bought at this time. I like this forum a lot, polite and friendly and lots of knowledge.
Especially when it comes down to bandsaws and bandsaw-blades this forum is a good place to be. I am heavily bandsaw and resawing addicted, also wood collecting, running 3 bandsaw machines at the moment:

1. resawing: Bäuerle BS 70 with Woodmaster CT
2. other stuff: Meber SR 600 with just a HEMA Ikarus
3. a small cheap china no name Bandsaw for very thin stuff where I don't need so much precision

Knowing that internet-forums and threads are only fun with pictures: here is the link to my picasa web album, with some pictures.
The Meber SR 600 is not yet pictured, also not my new dust-collection, my workshop is just continuously changing.

Please don't be afraid, the link is not a virus or something!!!!!

I am sure I can still learn a lot from this forum, perhaps I can also sometimes give answers....In general I am more the, old, heavy, strong, used and comparable cheap machine guy. Just enjoy the picture-show. If you have any questions I am very happy to answer them!

Best regards, Alexander Fiedler

Alex, welcome aboard. We can learn from you, so don't be shy with your postings. Lots of guitar makers here.
Beautiful woods that you've shown.
When you're cutting frets with a "system of 12ths", how do you scale accurately?
Do you make both steel and nylon stringed instruments? What finishes do you use? Just oil on the fingerboards?
Best wishes to you.
Bill

Viele Grüße aus den Vereinigten Staaten!!!

I really enjoyed your photos. I was especially astounded at the wood supply... some beautiful wood very well organized.

Welcome to the forum.
