I had a scrap from a pice of white oak that had interesting grain. I made a pendant that was too thick so I cut off a slice. The 1/16 inch thick slice laid around the shop for several months. I liked the figure too much to toss it and ended up making a small walnut box to display it.

That is such an attractive box. The coloring and added top make a really nice combo. That's a winner!

Really nice!! I would have never guessed that the top was White Oak. It must have been a nice pendant too.

I think your lid is really nice; a great way to use a small piece too good to throw away. The rest of the box is outstanding too and would look great no matter what the insert was.
