Wally Dickerman

Married 70 years today!!. Just a quiet dinner for 2 tonight at our favorite restaurant. The party will be in Portland in August. You're invited!!

We were married in 1942, during WW2. I had already joined the Navy to do my bit, so our time together was very short. Got back from the war in Sept 1945.

Congrats on a big milestone! And I though my own 20th was a long stint together!

Isn't the gift for the 70th anniversary a pallet of burl blanks? :)

According to Wikipedia the traditional gift for a 70th wedding anniversary is platinum. It doesn't say whether you are the giver or the receiver. :)

Wally, As many have already said, it is a testament to love and joy, but pure and true friendship that a couple shares to make it to such a grand milestone in a life together. It took me 4 times to find the right lady to spend the rest of my life with and my problem was that I kept falling for Redheads! But my darling bride now is a blond and loves me even with all my faults, God bless her for she is mhy savior.

May you have a blessed meal and the pleasure of each others company on this glorius day,

Jeff

Congratulations to both you and your wife! Also thanks to the both of you for your service to our country. Those of us that served in the armed forces sometimes get thanks for what we did, but our wives seldom get thanked for the great job they did. I know my service would have been a lot harder to bear without my wife's support.

Wally, that is awesome! Congrats. Of couse, 1/2 of us will go to Portland, Oregon and the other 1/2 to Portland, Maine...you didn't specify. ;)

Absolutely amazing! Congrats to BOTH of you. At 34 yrs of wedded bliss, I guess my wife and I are barely getting warmed up! I hope many of us can follow in your footsteps; just not sure we can all find women to put up with us for that long.

Very best personal regards to you and Mrs. D, Patirck

Wally, congratulations to a couple who obviously knows how to share, care and love one another. I don't think I've ever encountered a 70th anniversary except for the little picture in the Sunday paper. This one is real people who I wade in the "Creek" with. WOW!

Looks to me like the first segment of this 70th anniversary party is right here, with this being chorus #56!

Enjoy and all the best to you and your bride!

Blessings, Tom
