A while back I picked up a little belt sander - Reliant brand (13")

Its been getting a lot of use and I have grown to prefer it over the drum sander. BUT - today the conveyor belt decided to come apart. So I need a new conveyor belt.

I see there are different varieties. Any recommendations on style? (I see titanium (?), regular sanding belt type, rubber type). Im not sure what is available in the size range (I see replacements listed for the Performax, Jet, et al but no specific dimensions given.

The current belt is 13" wide, and end to end across the rollers is approx 22.5". Roller diameters are 1.5" There is a lot of room for adjustment so a little shorter or longer wouldnt be a problem.

Anyone have recommendations on source? Or preference of type?

Industrial abrasives will make sanding belt conveyor belts for you. I had them make some for a Performax 25x2 some years back.

Thanks CPeter - they will make exactly what I need at a price that is a fraction of the premade belts sourced on Amazon. Thank you!

(and hello - you arent 'that' far from me here in Northern MA)

Cpeter, excellent advise. I am in the same boat as you were and had come to the same conclusion. Saves over 50%! I am going to rebuild the platen and am considering making it a few inches longer. So a custom belt is needed anyway....
