View Full Version : Small Maple burl hollowform

4 1/2" x 7 1/2" to tip of finial
The finial was made from a piece of strait grained Birch then I applied leather dye and wax.
The Maple form was first bleached after which I applied a wipe on poly.
I took the pics using different backgrounds to hopefully show the details better.

That is really nice, John.......one does not see many natural edge hollow forms! Nice work!

Jackpot John!!! I did one of those a few years ago from BLM and it was cool! Glad you still have your knuckles! Your finish is great too!

I think the darker background shows the dark & light A-ok the high uneven shoulders are of interest and the finial is a beauty

This is a beautiful piece. You captured the character of the wood perfectly and the black finial is as good as any I have seen.
