Picked up a Diamond Edge comparable to a Stanley #5 off the "bay" last week. It seems to be very well made and, unlike other DE's I've seen, has a blued iron and cap iron, lever cap either plated or coated with very black stuff with DE in diamond logo with gold background. Iron has the Shapleigh Hardware with DE over arrow logo. Bed is nicely japanned with only "Made in USA" behind knob. Webbing has slight upturn where it contacts the sides unlike any of my various other make castings. Lateral adjust and yoke appear to be brass and the knob and tote are painted black as well.

Anyone out there know who might have made this and what era?

Buried somewhere in The Hardware Companies Kollectors Klub site is this link:

Hope that helps , though it sounds like you have a pretty good start already.

Dan, what a great link. I have a couple Keen Kutter tools--my favorite hand saw is a very large KK 10 pt crosscut saw. Thanks.
