I've had good luck on Ebay Rob...Amboyna is difficult to find in large sizes because tree isn't that big...get ready to pull a 2nd mortgage!
I looked up a piece of amboyna on ebay...1-3/4 x 6-3/8 x 9...$230...youch!!!

I just use both wood for pen blanks or lidded boxes. I did a NE bowl from a piece but just way to expensive to do anymore for me anyway.

If you are local I would consider selling you a hunk of mine. This is the largest slab I have at 57 pounds and about 36" across at the widest point and and even 2" thick. It appears the going price is around $1/ cu in. You can also try the places where I've purchased in the past. Gilmer, Griffin, Exotic Hardwoods of Latin America or some other places that I haven't tried like All Righteous Hardwood, Cook, Hearne or West Penn.

Two hideously expensive woods! Worse even than those Aussie burls. There's tons of sources but I have never seen this stuff being sold "cheap", especially in bowl blank sizes.

Call West Penn hardwoods in NY. See what Rocky has around.
