Roddy,

I can't help you out on your choice, becuase I have no experience with any of the saws you have listed.

I did want to welcome you to Saw Mill Creek though! We are very glad to have you as a member. I truely hope that you stick around after you have purchased your table saw and continue to keep us up to date on your work.

I had the 36-650 for about 2 1/2 years and it served me well. However mine did not have the cast iron ext. wings, just the standard stamped steel ones. That is a big plus for that machine. I would highly recommend wiring the motor to 220v as there is a considerable amount of power increase. The extra 1/2 hp doesn't sound like much but when you push a piece of red oak though, you will be glad you have the extra power. The fence was true and stable but needed to be checked and realigned every once and a while. The same for the trunnions was true. The only reason I got rid of it was to trade for a Rockwell Unisaw.

You might want to check how much the fence is going to add to the King before you decide. And welcome to the Creek.

I know this isn't what you want to hear.

I wish someone had advised me the way I am writing to you.

I can understand not wanting to purchase a used saw.

But if it was me I would wait & search around for a used cabinet saw.

You can purchase a new contractors-saw but that doesn't mean it will be perfect right out of the box & that you won't have to adjust the trunnions as you may with a contractors-saw.

It seems that from what I've read & experienced over the years a contractors-saw can get out of adjustment easier than a cabinet-saw & the cabinet-saw is definitely easier to adjust if it should need it.

Also it is possible to pick up a cabinet-saw for about the same price as the higher priced contractors-saw your looking at. Many of us here have been the route of purchasing a contractors-saw first & they work just fine. But I think if you asked us do we wish we would have purchased the cabinet-saw first the answer would be yes or would we go back to a contractors saw if given a choice we would probably all say no.

You can see the cabinet saw that I purchased here.

you can also go to my web sight & see my old contractors-saw & the shape the Unisaw was in when I purchased it for $250 final cost about $900.

Yes I rehabbed it & no I don't expect you would want to do the same. But for the price I paid to purchase & rehab this saw you should be able to get a reasonably good cabinet-saw for the top dollar you listed ready to go. Also have you looked at the new Sears cabinet-saws they are around the price you listed & are I believe 110v or 220v? The reviews by owners are pretty good for this saw.
