Got a little time to turn today, finished this out. Waiting for the oil to cure before waxing.

Nice wood and bowl. I like the black line spalt. I turned a piece of elm a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't very pleasent. Lots of stringy fibers etc. I've got the rest of it in my "when I run out of other wood" pile.

Anytime you post a pic of something turned from wood this nice, most of the comments are going to be focused on the wood. This wood is exceptional but so is your form. I really like the almost hemispherical shape with the ever so slight reverse curve near the top. I also like the wide rim which gives it a substantial feeling with our detracting from the gracefulness of the form.

Very nice Jeremy. Classic shape and great execution. Is this from the chunk of wood you found next to the pen blank?

Thanks all for the comments. David, I originally had the curve more exaggerated but ended up taking it down some.

James, no this is elm, whereas I believe the other to be maple. I found a photo of the bowl:
