I stay over in Laser land most of the time but I make small puzzle cubes and thought I would post a picture of my sled.

My goal is to make Very Accurate cubes with which to build my puzzles. With this set up I have very good control over the movement of the fence.

The saw is a 50+ year old Sears belt drive. Works great.

Howdy Pete,

Could you explain how the sled works some? I am having trouble figuring out how it works!

I start off by cutting the blank piece a little over size. Then mount it on the fence and trim it down. After the first cut I measure the blank with a micrometer and determine how much I need to take off to square it up. Put the dial indicators in place, set the zero and use the fine thread adjusting bolts on the right to move the fence.

Remove the Dial Indicator assembly and cut it again on 2 sides.

Doing this I can get cubes that are very close any way you measure them.

I will be making a few cubes soon and I will post a picture.

Ingenious device, I would love to see it in action. Please post some pictures of it working.

Thank you for the details. I thought that was how it worked, but I couldn't quite grasp it. Very neat jig you have there!
