Yes, its another piece from wood I received from my wood angel John Kent :D. He sure knows how to pick them! Thanks John!
Cottonwood with some burl, curl and figure, I'm calling it a shallow bowl, but it could also be a plate.
I went for an ogee form on the outside (doesn't really show in the pics) and a wide rim to show more of the color/figure.

It's about 11 1/2 x 2 1/2" or so, finished with antique oil and buffed but not waxed (I may add a top coat of something).

The color and curl is even better than the burl on this one. I am obviously no poet but that is a beautiful piece of wood and you made a great looking plate Kathy!

I have to agree with Ken, Great piece of wood with a nice form. What more could you ask for.

Kathy, once again you show that your technique and access to beautiful wood are matched by very few. But It's Your apparent ability to spend many hours in you shop that really has me jealous. Keep up the beautiful work and as always, thanks for sharing.

Wonderful character in the wood and smooth work on the ogee form! Good choice in finish, I like it.

Nice one. Anyone with the chutzpa to turn cottonwood deserves to be made a moderator.

Beautiful piece. I was just about to ask how cottonwood is to turn, but I think David just gave me a hint.
