Made for my wife's birthday.

Shell veneer/laminate in walnut disc. Next time I'll try a slightly larger shell inlay (or smaller hole).

(It does NOT have a light ring around the discs - that's an artifact of the photo tent)

Looks nice. That should be a nice surprise for your wife. How big are the discs?

How big are the discs?

Mike, they're 1.25" and 5/8" diameter, a shade under 1/4" thick. Doubleside taped them to a big dowel in the lathe to sand & finish them (CA finish).

Very nice! Is that the shell laminate from New Zealand? (And BTW, we typically take the raster shape used for the hole and contour to the outside of it by about 0.2mm, then cut the shell with that line, so we get the best possible fit. The amount we add to the vector depends on the wood. For softer woods the amount needs to be a bit more and a bit less for really hard woods.

Very nice! Is that the shell laminate from New Zealand?.

It's been sitting in my shop for a couple years, think it came from USAInlay but for all I know they got it from NZ.

Thx for sharing the sizing techniques. I'll be trying it again.

Very nice, Steve. The findings on the earrings are really complimentary. You finished them beautifully - She should be very happy with you!
