I've done a fair bit of veneer press applicaion and sheet joining with excellent results..
... on a few wood types a problem occurs after dissovled shellac is applied.

The veneer is hard maple and joint looks perfect until the finish is applied and the joint becomes visible and slightly dark
It happened on Anigre one time as well.... It might be seperating slightly but not shure..

Do you guys know of a way to treat the veneer to maybe seal the joint or maybe color mach it or something like that??

Thanks, Joel

Interesting problem/question, as shellac is often the way we seal things.

Anyway, how about hide glue?
