This is the first large vase that I finished using the Kobra system. It is around 13" tall and finished with lacquer. The first picture is of it after I roughed it out. The second picture is of it after I finished it. Can't take credit for the finished picture since it was taken at a turning club meeting to be put on their site.

Jack, Nice piece of spalted wood turned into a fine looking vase! The finish looks good in the club picture and the shape has a nice simple flow to it and will look good with some dried flowers, twigs and sticks in it on someones table center piece.

Great job and thanks for sharing,

Jeff

Very attractive, good job on shape and finish. The size makes it even more special. The Kobra must be the cat's meow for larger pieces.

Glad you got it Jack! Looks like you've broken it in the proper way. Great looking vase! Just so you know the Kobra just keeps getting better and better the more you use it!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Steve, I don't think that my retirement will hit me until school starts up next year. Been busy the last week building around 350' of fence to let my chickens have more room. Burying the wire 6" was a chalenge since most of the fence was located in the woods. Did I mention roots are a big pain in the back side. Chris, the wood is silver maple which is my favorite species to work with. Mike, here is a link to a short review I did when I roughed this vase out. I still prefer to turn free hand on anything shorter than 9" but the Kobra is great for when I want to hollow deeper forms. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?166407-Second-test-run-of-the-Kobra-system!&highlight=kobra

Great looking vase out of some great looking wood Jack. I have only had the chance to turn one piece of spalted silver maple but it was nice!
