This planer will be auctioned off this coming Sat. It appears to be a G0454, but I'm not sure. I'm basing my guess solely on the location and style of the on/off sw. Possibly0454Z or1033X. Anyone? It appears to be older than the machines I've viewed on the Grizz site. Like to know for sure what I'm bidding on and what the new machines are going for $ wise. Judging from the pile of chips behind the machine, it got a work out.

I don't know if it is a Grizzly planer. I have had a 15" model that was similar made by TTL. These were made in Taiwan back in the 80's but not much have changed since then. You can convert it to use a byrd head pretty simply. I'd just recommend that you replace the oil as soon as you get it.

1033 was the old model model.

A very popular model which was sold for years. I have thousands of miles on mine, and it virtually trouble free.

The new 1033x looks the same except sprial cutter and other little things. Looks like they made the outfeedtable solid, which is good--I made mine "solid" with a deck of melamine so little parts don't fall.

I would guess $400-700 for value. If it still runs it probably has a decent motor as the motors were a weak link back then. Bearings will likely need replacing but should be pretty cheap. Dave

I wouldent go any more than 800 because a new grizzly costs 1400 for a 20 inch and 1000 for the 15 inch planer

I have a WOOD magazine from April 1988 with a Grizzly advertisement for what looks to be that exact planer. It is a model G1033 with a reg price $1295.00 sale price of $1,175.00.

thanks all. Todd it does look exactly like your Bridgewood. Did a little more research, Bridgewood was manuf by Wilke Machinery. Unable to find a website for them, anyone know if the Bridgewood is still made or if parts can still be purchased?

That's definitely a Grizz, if you look close you can see the bear head logo and "Grizzly" in script to the left of the 20

Bridgewood was a brand of imports sold by Wilke machinery. Been there many times. Bought my planer, jointer, and milling machine there, and a 14" bandsaw. All were Taiwan made at the time.

They quit selling machines several years ago and just do service work now. I haven't stopped by since they don't sell machines anymore.

If that 20" Grizzly is an old Taiwan made one,I'd get it. I've been delighted with my 15" Taiwan Bridgewood, and my 8" jointer,Taiwan too. Had my Taiwan made Bridgeport type mill since 1986 from Wilke. It has been so good,I haven't bothered to replace it with a real Bridgeport, though several have been available nearby since then. I don't like Chinese mainland machines much. They need more time to get their act together, and HOPEFULLY their quality control.
