My laptop will get hot if i forget to let the vents overhang the lap desk I use. (pic below)Is a chill pad a good idea or will it just make the computer hotter powering it off the USB port?

I got a Logitech Cooling Pad N200 for my laptop. Cushioned on the bottom with intake vents. Hard shell on top with vents. USB 80mm fan with off, and 2 speeds in unit blows up on the laptop. Got it from Amazon for about 18 bucks IIRC. Works great. I can even have it on a pillow to get some height if I'm laying in bed and it keeps the laptop in good shape temp wise. If the pad you show covers up the vents on the bottom, I'd think that would cause some problems. Jim.

edit: re-reading your post makes it sound like the item you show has a fan in it. Is it porous for the air to get through? I haven't seen any issues with the USB powered fan making the laptop hotter, but it does use some of the battery life.
