Hi.

Would it be possible for you guys to measure the stems of your drill press tables?

The stem is the tube that extends from the bottom of the drill press table, and is locked into the table arm (which connects the table to the column).

I'm looking for a table I could use on a drill press that has no table, and for which the part is NLA. The drill press is your typical "made in China" affair.

The size of the press you have isn't too important, as the table is always centered under the bit by the arm. So your drill press could be a 10", 12", or 15" and as long as the stem fits, the table will work for me.

If you have decent calipers, that would probably work best. Diameter and length would be appreciated. Diameter is obviously more critical than length, but as long as you're at it, both would be helpful.

Also let me know the make/model of your press, so if I find a good match, I know what to order. :)

I've included a little photo with the part I need measured highlighted in red.

Sorry. My DP table doesn't mount like your picture. The arm on mine (delta) forks into two "brackets" holding radius arms with lockdowns that allow fron to back tilting. I've seen mount like you describe but they were on older iron DP's.

What diameter and length is the stem?

I don't have the stem, because I don't have the table.

But I would say approx. 1.85" D and 2.25" L would get me in the ballpark for my arm.

That's what I'm getting on my Delta 17-900 (over 30 years old)

I measured the inside of the arm tube since the stem does not protrude but with calipers I got 1 27/32" (.84375) wide and 2 3/8" tall.

It's a match!

Thanks Dave.

Any other matches would be welcome, as I'd like to find the least expensive alternative.

Maybe if you can't find anything else, something like a vice adapter(lower left hand side of page) might be able to be adapted?

Okay, I think you guys can forget measuring. I just returned from Menard's where I measured two different presses, and I'm beginning to think 1.85" is a quasi-standard.

Measure with a pair of metric calipers. Grizzly uses several sizes as evidenced by the cross slide vise adapters they sell. You could backtrack from there to find a table.

1.85 inches is really close to 47mm so this adapter would fit.

None of those DPs is still made so you'll have to call Monday to see if you can get a table.

OR

Buy that adapter an bolt it to the bottom of a shop made table which will be a lot nicer table anyway.

Thanks, Matt (and Cary), that is exactly what I'm trying to achieve anyhow.
