My guess is that jointer is made in China instead of Taiwan. Last year Grizzly put out some new 15" planers that appeared the same as the old with lower prices. But, made in China instead of Taiwan. Looks like a heck of a deal.

Wow, my Delta 6" will definitely be on ebay once that is out.

Papa Griz talked about it on another forum. Yes it is made in China, but by a Taiwanese company. They are really trying to keep their trend of better quality tools at fair prices. Seems really nice, I know I will be getting one not far from now. I will have to sell the Jet 6" first.

The new G0586 is now posted on Grizzly's web site. I E-Mailed Grizzly, and they would hold back one for me when they arrive, so I wouldn't drive 3 hours to find it wasn't in stock. They should be available between the 1st of May and the 1st of June.

I really like Grizzly, but one thing to be careful of is when new tools arrive, some times they take a tad longer than expected. I plan to wait until they start shipping then place my order, assuming the price does not increase. This price is introductory only.

This price is introductory only.

Pappa Grizzly stated that the price should stand until atleast July ... looks like a pretty sweet deal (even if it's not a Delta!)

Well, looks like if you want one earlier they're blowing out the G1018 for $595 this week.

I saw that, man decisions, decisions... I think I still like the new one with the longer bed.

So other than price and appearance, does anyone know what the difference between this and the G0500 is? I'm thinking about an 8" jointer and was leaning towards the latter until I noticed this thread.
