Gift Maple

A friend at the wood turner's group in Charlotte gave me this piece of maple a while back and I just had a chance to turn it tonight.

It measures 9 3/4 diameter by 4 inches tall and has one coat of danish oil on it. Depending on how it drys I may go back and put several coats of laquer on it.

Good looking bowl, Raymond! Did you CA the knot-- it looks like it may loosen up! Nice form!

Oh yeah... already applied the CA to the knot and the sections around the pith. I'm going to resand it since this morning it doesn't look the same as it did last night when I took it off the lathe. Funny how the light plays tricks with you when you've been turning on something for a couple of hours.
