I am missing out on all the fun.... Anyone seen any pictures of the vender booths online yet? I want to see what is new. So far, we have the new PM Monster lathe - wow! Anything new from Carter, Oneway, Doug Thompson, Nova, Glaser, etc?

I am wishing I was there...

Yep! Making a trip this year all the way from the east just was not in the cards............I do hope some folks post a lot of pics, especially of the galleries and some of the vendor booths.

I am sure everyone is having a blast! I know I did when I went to the St. Paul symposium! I figure folks will start posting photos soon after they get back home. Looking forward to seeing what's new in tools and art!

Here are a few photos I took of the instant Gallery. The rest (143) can be seen on my Facebook page here: Instant Gallery Photos (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.429367400430735.104525.100000724362477&type=1&l=821dcb74a9) (you don't have to be a facebook member to see the photos)

I didn't take any pictures of the vendor area. But then, I didn't recognize anything "new" that you can't see on the web elsewhere.

I would agree.....not being able to go is a drag. I went to my first last year and had a blast. Hope they get one close to Michigan soon again.

Man, Greg, I love that form using the colored pencils. I've got a little artist friend that would sure appreciate one of those. Is that yours?

The new one I am excited about is Stuart Batty's Omni Grinder. He is still 5 or so months away from production. Price should be under $1,000. He did a great design on this tool, and a power grinding machine far above the Sorby belt sander. Not much else there that was really new. Attendance was down considerably from last year, in both attendants and vendors.

One new tool I really want to see is a big bandsaw, one that is designed for woodturners and resawing. 5 hp motor, 20 inch cutting height, and a real table for cutting things out on. I need to convince Brent English that there should be a Robust bandsaw.

Hey Reed - did Stuart Batty mention when his new gouges and handles would be available for purchase? It seems we've been waiting on them for a while.

Did anyone see the Carter steady? Any info out about it yet?

Won't be out for a couple more months.

It was different in that it was very light weight. Rather than a single heavy-duty ring that supports the wheel-bars on one side, it had two light-weight (3/32" or 1/8") rings that sandwiched the wheel-bars. And even then, the two rings had lightening slots all the way around the circumference.

It was very stable and strong in-line with the wheels but pretty wobbly side to side. And in my sloppy shop, I would worry about it getting bent. But if you are neater and more organized, it would be great to not have to lift the really heavy units I've seen elsewhere.

I haven't paid a lot of attention to Stuart's gouges. I have been using the Thompson and D Way tools mostly. I did pick up another CBN wheel, this time from Optigrind, a German company. It is 220 grit, and has a custom machined flange with a washer machined onto the piece. Main difference I can see from the D Way tools is that it is 220 grit, and has about 1/2 inch of grit on one side of the wheel. I will try it out tomorrow.

Thanks Greg-a feast for the eyes for those of us who did not get there.
