I have a 30" photo tent so this maple bowl went in, but the back drop did make it full width. It is from a blank I cut about two years ago. the blank weighed in at 160 lbs. I trim it to 140 and with the help of my wife I lifted it onto the spindle as she turned the hand wheel. I turned the outside using the 3' face plate that comes with the 3520. Rough out it was 2" thick and weighed in at 39 lbs. I waited 18 months for it to dry and finished it a few months ago. It now weighs somewhere around 3 to 4 lbs. It is finished with oil and 3 coats of lacquer. It measures 22 1/2" across and about 7 1/2" deep. I used Reed Grays suggestion to saran wrap and duck tape the rim and had no cracks.

Now that's a dough bowl right there! Wow! Love the size and the rim treatment, really nice there. You gonna have to get a bigger tent there.

Really nice, Bob! I like the beading, the rim detail and the bottom is finished off nicely as well............that one will be a very useful item.

Nice bowl, love the rim treatment and bottom finish. Looks very sturdy and capable of holding lots of fruit or other goodies (wonder how many M&M's?).

Bob, if one did not know the size, one would never guess how large this is! That is a good compliment on the form and design. Great work!!

Very nice work Bob! Very clean enhancements, great form and like John already mentioned - if you had not listed the dimensions - we would never had known the size! Great proportions! Thanks for sharing!

I hope you plant a garden as a second hobby. Big Bertha will hold a ton of greens. You chose a great shape for such a large bowl. I also like the beaded top edge. It will make the bowl easier to grip when it is full.

Love the bowl Bob. Can't wait to finish a couple in that range from my cherry stash just wondering if the DVR can handle it.

Bob,
That's a beautiful bowl....even if it wasn't so big. I assume you turned it outboard? 19 1/2" would be my limit .... if I had the nerve to turn something that large. Great job.

Yes Ed. It was about 26" in diameter. I have the lower extension.
