This thread is sure not meant to steal the thunder of another recent thread but here are a few photo's of a recent 'dye job' I completed.

Spalted Maple that is a little soft and pinky. I didn't feel that it would look very good with a natural finish.
About 6 1/2 x 1 1/2 with 6 coats of WOP and buffed gently with my Beale system.
I guess this is my response to "Is dying taboo to you". I just love the added dimension and interest that dying CAN add to a piece.
C & C as always are appreciated.

Peter,
I've done quite a few dyed pieces and I love to look at what others do with theirs. Yours is great. Keep it up!

Now that is different! Sure is bright! I really like that it is not all one solid color!

Wow! I really like the dye application in this piece. At first I wasn't so sure about the color choices, but after studying it for a bit... I really dig the bold colors. Thanks for sharing.

When I first saw this I was not sure about the colors. Sure they make the grain pop alright. But blue and red? But then....
I looked at it for a while because there was something bouncing around in the back of my mind and I was trying to get to it.
Then I realized that looking at this made me think of the sun setting on the ocean. It's the first pic that had the clue. Once
I got that, I decided I really like it!

That really works. The colors and the black streaks make a real winner. Could you explain the dye methods. It doesn't appear to be air brushed. Did you paint in the dye with a small brush or work it with a paper towel?

Hello all and thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

I too was unsure about the "red and blue?" but once it was applied I liked the way it felt.

I use a small rag, usually part of an old tee shirt, to wipe on the color using Transtint wood dye mixed with water.
