Ok, since I got snipered out of that Sargent 408, I bought a Fulton #5, 14" jack on E-bay. Now the question is: Fulton???? Who or what was Fulton Planes. Looked the same as my other #5 jacks. A raised "tab" behind the knob says FULTON. A four digit number behind the tote as well ( I'll have to look it up again). Just rusty, and a chip off the top of the horn. $1.99 + S&H. We will see more when it shows up at my mailbox.....

My memory is saying this was a second line for Sargent.

I had one that wasn't very good.

I believe you're right Jim - moreover, Fulton was a name branded onto the planes, by Sargent, for sale by Sears Roebuck & Co.

Well, a $1.99 plane..... Might be fun to see what I can do with it, re-hab wise. Looks close to the other planes I have in the jack plane size. Sargent? Hmmm, well, we'll see in about a week....

I just turned mine into a scrub plane. I had an old wooden Stanley 26 and took the curved blade out of it and turned it into a scrub. Works great.

I have one with a corrugated sole, and it works great. The blade sharpen up real nice.
I payed $3.00 for mine on E-bay local pick up.

The Fulton arrived this morning (along with three other planes)233864 Lever cap seems a might narrow, almost a #3 size. Under it were a few numbers233865409B and 414. A look at the frog233866and the 'wheel"233867 looks like I'll be busy for a while. re-hab, here we come....

Got this plane cleaned up, and the iron sharpened back up233950233951233952Parts cleaned up, base and frog shined up, and i even re-finished the front knob. I had some 1x Oak in the bench vise, so the third photo is after a test drive. Not too bad a plane....
