Cherry vanity top medicine cabinet for LOML and all her drugs .. it'll sit on the lavatory vanity in the bathroom .....

small room ... lots of humidity from the shower .... 3 coats of danish already applied ....

what would you folks recommend as a finish coat to combat the effects of the humidity??

2 parts same oil finish with 1 part oil base poly. Mix real good in a jar or clean can. Wipe or brush on as usual. Finish will harden and then you can wax it. Steve

If what you already put on is really just oil, I'd recommend a seal coat of dewaxed shellac and then the clear finish of your choice. I generally use water-based laquers, but varnish or "regular" lacquer is just fine, too. Use what you are comfortable applying. If you go the varnish route, you can use a wipe-on technique with the material thinned 50/50.

But on another note...many of the so-called "Danish Oil" finishes are already an oil/varnish mix and will not require any additional top coating for protection. Check the label of what you already applied to see what it actually is!
