I got an email from LN the other day, and clicked through to the tail vise hardware which I hadn't seen before. It is a bit different than others that I have used (Woodcraft and Atlas). I emailed them to see if they had a drawing or print of the recommeded installation, but have no response as yet.

How long has this been out?
Has anyone used it yet?

I like the very coarse threading on the lead screw. And, given that it is by LN, I am sure it is of good quality. So, if anyone could chime in with a bit of experience, I would appreciate it.

Alan,

after seeing your post I went to their website and there are several vise screws and bench dogs available. It looks good...not made by LN it is made in Germany...it may be what is on my Deifennbach....it looks similar.

Is that a shoulder vise they show or a front vise? I'm planning my bench and am looking for a quick release front vise and the one they show sure looks like the one woodcraft carries, but at considerably lower cost.

Looks like the LN is less $135 vs $159

The had their own bench at the WW show and was available for "custom fitting" -- these must be the "internal working parts".....

Like Mark S says....$135 ---they are more $$ at woodcraft!!

It appears that the front vise quick release mechanism is the same, or at least similar, to the Richards-Wilcox front vise, found in pattern shops. The R-W seems to work well.
