Hi fellas. I've got a couple antique QS oak side tables... one has wood wheels and the other has some sort of composite material wheels. Both tables have the same problem... significant flat spots on the wheels. ANY HELP on resolving this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I had the same problem, I installed these http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=2314&site=ROCKLER rubber ball casters. They were a direct fit in the old mounts. Now my table rolls with ease.

Van Dykes has casters that are a little more period than the Rockler ones -- http://www.vandykes.com/furniture-hardware/c/394/filter/100000001310eq100000001458/

You could always glue a little crescent of wood to your existing wheels. You'd want to make sure that you first sanded or planed a flat, bare surface on the wheels. If you want to maintain the original finish, you could dye the crescents before applying them. You could use double stick tape to make sure the repairs were roundish before committing to glueing them.

As an alternative, you could glue on a repair piece, then sand the wheels into circles, then apply dye, etc to the entire wheel. If you happen to have a lathe, this would be a piece of cake.

If the wheel is removable from the caster, could you make a new one with an appropriate sized hole saw?
