buckles on G&G blanket chest

I'll be taking Darrell Pearts Blanket and detail class in a about a week. I've heard that a lot of people have a rough time with the buckles and wanted to know if anyone has any experience making them. Have any of you taken his class? Any help at all would be appreciated.

Are you talking about the Freeman Ford House "straps" that he simulates in wood?

If so, I am pretty sure he will cover that in the class. I use templates and jigs that I made which have evolved over time. My take on the Ford House 'letter box' leather straps are also rendered in wood but, look different than Darrell's wonderful version and your interpretation probably will too ;-). I would use whatever his method is for the class as that will fit in with his presentation. You can develop your own approach from there if his method does not suit you.
