I got these forms roughed out for a fair I did on Sat. At the fair I turned the finials and several other things. I didn't what to make too many shavings so I tried to complete as much as possible before I got there and still have something interesting to demo. C&C Always welcome.

Great job on all of them. I am really wanting to wrap my mitts around that teal
colored one.

Wow Ed!!! Those are all fantastic, but I think the lil one really steals the show. That finial is truly amazing on it!!! Fantastic design, this is neat to see a bunch together, you can see a mini evolution of your forms and your finials. The forms are all wonderful, the shape of the one in the sixth picture is my favorite, it's really pleasing to me.

I love them! Beautiful. What kind of hollowing tool(s) are you using for them?

Jenny,
I use an articulated arm on my larger lathe for the regular hollow forms. For the tiny one, I ground down an allen wrench and put it in a home made handle. I'll try to post a picture of it tomorrow.

Nice demo setup and a nice bunch of HFs Ed! I'd never have guessed the size of the smaller one without the bic for comparison, pretty cool!

Come on!!! That had to be trick photography. No one can make such small finials with clean detail. I wish I could have been there to watch you turn them. Do you know one of those witch doctors who can shrink heads?? :)>

Michelle,
Yes, I am having fun. I'm so glad to be retired and have all day to play in my shop.

Faust,
I'm just getting started on the small stuff. I plan on doing some more even smaller. Don't know any witch doctors but I'd be afraid that they might get mad and shrink me instead of my work.

Jenny,
Here are a couple of pictures of my hollowing tool mad from an allen wrench. I'm planning on doing even smaller turnings so I'll probably end up making some smaller hollowing tools.
