Sycamore bowl with a rainbow of Candy Colors. Candy Apple Red at the rim blending through Candy Purple at the base. Left the region inside the foot as the metal flake base. Outside finished with EM6000 Waterborne Lacquer, inside with Bush Oil. Will probably put some polyurethane on the inside eventually. Around 8" (20cm) across.

Sure is bright!! I like how you left the interior of the bowl natural. Makes for a cool contrast!

Of course the coloring is what hits first. Almost to the point where you fail to notice the great form. All in all, a bell ringer!

I'm with Double D. The form is outstanding. This is the kind of shape we strive for in a calabash. The shape makes me want to pick it up. The color makes me want to eat it.

Thanks everyone.

I've been having a lot of fun lately with using vivid metal flake based colors on portions of turnings. I always want to leave enough bare wood exposed to show that the piece really is wood. I haven't airbrushed a rainbow effect for a few months, so I was overdue. I think I should experiment with placing solar cells near it to see if it can generate power! When I bring this to the next club meeting, I doubt that it will hide in the background.

Great colors and finish Eric but the shape of your bowl would be outstanding even with out them!
